Overall the first year check-up went well, until the end. Our doctor was really wonderful with Alex, as were all the support staff. I never felt rushed during the appointment, and really felt like everyone was actually listening to me. The doctor answered all our questions, and really falls in line with [...]

Tomorrow is Alex’s first year appointment and the first appointment with his new doctor. I decided that I wasn’t happy with his pediatrician, and thought it was time that we switched him over to our family practice. Aaron and I are watching Alex play with his Stack & Roll Cups he got for Christmas, and we are totally mesmerized by him attempting to figure out how they go together. He has three of cups, and just isn’t sure how to make them fit. He knows that the sizes and colors matter. He [...]

I think Alex has recently worked through some mental milestone. There’s nothing really specific I can point to that tells me what it is, as it is just a small change in the way he reacts to the world. It’s almost as if he’s more aware of things around him. I’ve seen [...]

As some of you may know, we’ve been having some sleep issues with Alex. Up until he was six months old, he slept rather soundly in his Amby next to our bed. This worked out really well for us, because he was near us but still in his own space. Then came [...]
